Bookfest @ Suntec, The Search For Manga Drawing Guides!

I went to this particular Bookfest yesterday. Although this entry is about the Bookfest, but it also has something to do with anime, not entirely but somehow related. I’m not there because i’m having a shortage of storybook, but for the sole purpose of buying manga drawing guidebooks! I obtained information about this bookfest selling manga drawing guides at the Chinese Section. Got to thank this friend of mine who apprised me about it 2 days ago. Its free admission and the books there are sold at discount around 20% up to 80%!!! You can even find a lot of manga books there, those who are interested can take a look. Unfortunately, today is the last day haha…if u happen to read this entry right after i published it, u can rush there and check them out! ^^;
Upon entering Suntec City, just turn to the right and proceed to the 4th floor. Most of the time when there are events like this, it will be around the same area. Its quite spacious there, will be great if cosplay events are held there haha.

The room is really big and it was difficult for me to look for the books i wanted. I asked a staff, standing around the manga books area, if he knew where the manga drawing guides were. I thought he knew because he was in charge of the manga books area, well it seemed i was wrong… I ended up at the children’s area with all those drawing books for kids -_-|||. I almost puked when i saw those books! Luckily after some searching, i’ve found the area where those REAL manga guides are!

HIYA! FINALLY FOUND IT! Although they are at a discount of 20%, the cost is still around 10 SGD per book, so be sure to bring enough money if you are planning to buy many of them. They are all in chinese language. There are guides to using manga drawing materials, drawing alluring bishoujos, drawing clothes, actions, facial expressions, monsters, machines like cars to Gundam and etc. I had a hard time choosing the books because all of them are pretty detailed on the elaboration of the featured subjects. I only bought 2 of them due to the constraint of my budget XD!

Right, these 2 books. One is the guide to drawing machines while the other is guide to drawing weird stuffs (things like monsters, demon, ghosts and mystical creatures). Am i getting addicted to taking photos? O.O
After i bought the books, i went to look around and…

LOOK! Its a Christmas tree in the Bookfest LOL! I’m starting to wonder whether it is a problem with my hands or with my phone haha!

A small stage was set up there. Didn’t know what it was about but it seemed like some mini contest for children. The host was asking really lame questions and those kids were like lost for words. All they could do was smile lol, their expressions were really adorable! Must say that contest was kinda interesting.
Anyway if you missed this Bookfest, you can always go for the one next year. It was indicated that there is going to be another Bookfest next year, most probably in Suntec again. Information on the location and duration of such events can usually be found in the newspapers, so just keep a lookout for them! ![]()

I have a few of those “How to draw” books myself, though I don’t really look at them lol. But it is a great selection for beginners as this “series” of books tells you the basics that need to be acquired for general drawings and you can always draw how you want after knowing the basics.
